Since I got my laptop, a year ago, I always had to take the battery out so she would shut down properly. Otherwise she would not boot up.
The power cord that came with my laptop burned out, so I got this one. The end piece not only fits into the power port better than the original power supply, but I no longer have to take the battery out to properly shut down my computer.
I can’t say that I understand as to why. I would not think that a bad power supply would cause a computer to not shut down correctly. But, changing out power supply is the only change I made.
